Chadian police dismantle crime ring in N’Djamena

The National Police of Chad has just revealed the arrest of 29 suspected criminals in N’Djamena, following a series of targeted operations conducted between May 15 and June 1, 2026. The coordinated efforts involved multiple units, including intelligence cells, public security commissariats, central investigation services, and the Ngueli border police post.

During a press briefing held on June 2, 2026, Controller General Mahamat Mahamat Idriss detailed the operations that led to these arrests. The suspects, now in custody, stand accused of a range of serious offenses, from weapons trafficking and conspiracy to armed robbery, vehicle break-ins, and illegal immigration.

The suspects were systematically questioned and categorized into four distinct groups based on the nature of their alleged crimes. Among the charges filed are cases involving organized crime networks, motorcycle thefts in flagrante delicto, theft of high-value items such as computers, phones, gold, carpets, and aluminum sheets, as well as pickpocketing incidents.
