Abidjan, June 3, 2026 – Côte d’Ivoire’s national discourse today is predominantly shaped by critical socio-economic developments. Leading the headlines are the second annual dialogue of the Partnership for Child Protection (CPC) and the formal introduction of the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 to the global community.

First Lady Dominique Ouattara is actively spearheading renewed cooperation efforts with the United States. She has emphatically called for a strengthening of initiatives and alliances, outlining key challenges and charting a new trajectory for intensified actions to maximize outcomes.

This engagement positions Dominique Ouattara at the core of a significant partnership with Washington. Both Côte d’Ivoire and the United States are reinforcing their collaborative strategies in combating child trafficking and addressing child labor issues, solidifying their alliance in this crucial humanitarian domain. The First Lady also presided over the second annual CPC dialogue, expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved.

Beyond child protection, the nation’s socio-economic landscape is buzzing with news of an impending partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and a major Chinese conglomerate. This collaboration aims to bolster the energy, electricity, water, and infrastructure sectors.

An influential Chinese entity, identified as China Energy Engineering Corporation, is poised to arrive, ready to actualize President Ouattara’s expansive vision. The group’s president-director general affirmed their readiness to invest substantially in Côte d’Ivoire. Prime Minister Beugré Mambé and Ni Zhen, representing the Chinese group, have reportedly laid the groundwork for a strategic and foundational partnership. Discussions have centered on investment opportunities in electricity distribution, gas-fired power plants, and transportation. The Prime Minister has extended a direct invitation to China Energy to invest in the country.

In another significant economic highlight, the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 was presented to the international community, drawing considerable attention from the national press.

Côte d’Ivoire is placing a strong emphasis on private investment as the primary funding mechanism for the PND 2026-2030, a strategy conveyed to ambassadors during its presentation. Diplomats have been urged to engage their respective nations in preparation for an upcoming consultative group meeting scheduled for July 8 and 9. The government has clearly articulated its strategy to development partners, with Minister Diarrassouba leading a compelling advocacy effort before the international community. The Minister is actively involving ambassadors in mobilizing the necessary resources to finance this ambitious plan, demonstrating the government’s commitment to rallying global support.

Furthermore, national media has also extensively covered the presentation of the report and recommendations from the Economic, Social, Environmental and Cultural Council (CESEC) concerning agro-industry development policy.

Aka Aouélé and the CESEC have put forth seven concrete recommendations aimed at shaping the future of agro-industry development. The CESEC unanimously adopted a comprehensive report and opinion, complete with these seven recommendations, specifically designed to accelerate Côte d’Ivoire’s economic transformation.
