Colonel Michaël Randrianirina recently arrived in Libreville, where he engaged in significant discussions with President Oligui Nguema.
This high-level meeting underscores the commitment to fortifying the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Gabon and Madagascar. The President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar undertook a productive forty-eight-hour working and friendship visit to the Gabonese capital. During his stay, the Malagasy leader was formally received in audience at the prestigious Palais Rénovation by Gabon’s President, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Their extensive talks centered on reinforcing bilateral cooperation and exploring Madagascar’s ongoing institutional refoundation process.
A key highlight of the visit included a comprehensive presentation to the Malagasy delegation by Professor Guy Rossatanga-Rignault. This session detailed the crucial phases of Gabon’s transition and the fundamental principles guiding its restoration of constitutional order. President Oligui Nguema unequivocally reiterated Gabon’s readiness to lend its support to Madagascar as it navigates its own path toward institutional renewal.
For his part, the Malagasy President expressed a keen interest in drawing inspiration from Gabon’s rich experience in governance and the consolidation of its institutions. Concluding their exchanges, both heads of state lauded the exceptional quality of relations between Gabon and Madagascar. It is recalled that in October 2025, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina assumed leadership in Madagascar following widespread youth protests against the former president, Andry Rajoelina, which were sparked by severe shortages of water and electricity.
