Chad and Algeria celebrate Sonelgaz’s energy cooperation mission

An official dinner in N’Djamena recently marked the successful completion of a high-level mission by a delegation from Sonelgaz International, the Algerian state energy company, in Chad. The visit centered on advancing plans for a new 50 MW power plant, a project set to significantly boost the country’s electricity production capacity.

The minister of Water and Energy hosted the event at a leading hotel in the capital, bringing together officials from both nations. The evening featured traditional dances, a shared buffet, and the ceremonial cutting of a cake, symbolizing the warmth and depth of Chad-Algeria relations. The delegation’s three-day agenda included technical discussions, on-site inspections of the proposed plant location, and strategic planning to ensure long-term energy collaboration.

According to Algerian representatives, the project reflects a commitment to supporting Chad’s infrastructure development and improving access to reliable electricity for its people. The initiative is viewed as a concrete step toward strengthening bilateral ties and fostering sustainable energy solutions in the region.

To conclude the evening with gratitude, symbolic gifts were exchanged between the two delegations, reinforcing the spirit of partnership and mutual respect that defined the visit.
