Algeria’s prime minister wraps up Niger visit after power plant inauguration
Algeria’s commitment to Niger highlighted during high-level visit
The Prime Minister of Algeria, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, concluded an official visit to Niamey, Niger, where he inaugurated the Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant with a capacity of 40 megawatts.
This project, presented as a gift from Algeria to Niger, underscores the deep ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and solidarity between the two nations. It also supports Niger’s efforts to develop and strengthen its energy infrastructure.
Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, representing Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, co-chaired the inauguration ceremony with his Nigerien counterpart, Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman. The event marked a significant milestone in Algerian-Nigerien energy cooperation.
High-level engagements during the visit
Following the ceremony, the Algerian Prime Minister met with Niger’s Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani. During this meeting, he conveyed President Tebboune’s fraternal greetings and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and solidarity between the two brotherly nations.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb was seen off at Niamey International Airport by Niger’s Prime Minister and Algeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Mr. Ahmed Saadi.
Strengthening bilateral relations
The visit highlights the ongoing efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between Algeria and Niger, particularly in the energy sector. The newly inaugurated power plant is expected to contribute significantly to Niger’s energy security and economic development.
