Amadou Ba sheds light on alleged Ousmane Sonko and Aminata Touré phone calls

During these alleged phone calls, the former Prime Minister reportedly made highly critical statements concerning Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
At a recent press briefing organized by Pastef-Les Patriotes, Deputy Amadou Ba disclosed what he termed the “truth” regarding telephone conversations that purportedly occurred between Ousmane Sonko and Aminata Touré. These exchanges are said to have taken place while Sonko, currently Prime Minister, was in detention. Ba’s revelations come amidst his ongoing defense of the government leader concerning controversies surrounding public fund management.
According to the deputy, the former Prime Minister, Aminata Touré, expressed significant reservations about Bassirou Diomaye Faye during one of these calls. Amadou Ba quoted her as allegedly stating to Ousmane Sonko, “Diomaye is incapable of directing this country. If you leave him here, he will not last two years.” This particular statement highlights the depth of the reported criticisms.
The parliamentarian finds these alleged past declarations difficult to reconcile with Aminata Touré’s current public stance. He strongly suggests that she is attempting to “change history” and reinterpret past events to align with the evolving political landscape and power dynamics.
Despite the increasingly heated exchanges between the two political factions, Amadou Ba urged for calm and restraint. He emphasized Pastef’s commitment to fostering political debate rather than escalating to direct confrontation, declaring, “He is pushing us towards violence, and we will not engage in it.” This statement underscores the party’s preference for dialogue in the face of political tensions.
