Burkina Faso’s digital solidarity platform: demɛ sira connects communities
Ouagadougou — Burkina Faso has taken a bold step toward modernizing its social policies with the official launch of Demɛ Sira, a groundbreaking digital platform designed to amplify national solidarity through technology.
The launch event, held on June 2, 2026, in the capital, was led by the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kabré/Kaboré, alongside the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, who served as the event’s honorary patron.
Demɛ Sira, which translates to ‘the path of solidarity’, is an innovative online platform created to streamline citizen contributions to social and humanitarian initiatives. It provides a direct, transparent, and accessible channel for both residents and the Burkinabè diaspora to participate in public solidarity efforts.
The platform is hosted on the official website of the Ministry of Solidarity and aligns with the government’s broader strategy to integrate digital tools into public governance, ensuring more efficient and accountable social action.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Family and Solidarity emphasized that Demɛ Sira embodies the authorities’ commitment to fostering a more inclusive model of solidarity, leveraging digital innovation to strengthen civic engagement and social cohesion.
The initiative also highlights the growing role of digital public platforms in Africa, where technology is increasingly used not only for administrative services but also to drive citizen participation and strengthen community bonds.
By introducing Demɛ Sira, the Burkinabè government aims to enhance the effectiveness, traceability, and accessibility of social initiatives, ensuring vulnerable populations receive timely and targeted support.
This initiative reflects a broader trend in Africa, where digital platforms are becoming vital tools for governance, citizen engagement, and social development.
