Clarification on 100000 cfa bonus for Senegal u15 champions

Following their triumph at the African School Football Championship in Zimbabwe, the Senegalese U15 Lionceaux team found themselves at the center of a debate regarding a financial reward. Reports indicated each player received a symbolic cheque for 100,000 FCFA, sparking questions about the legitimacy of such a bonus in a school-level competition.

On Thursday, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) addressed the controversy through an official statement. The federation clarified that, in accordance with CAF regulations, no direct cash prizes are allocated to players in school football competitions. The 300,000 USD global prize awarded to the winning team is not distributed individually nor transferred directly to the FSF. Instead, the funds are managed by the CAF and allocated toward structured projects in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and the FSF.

The federation outlined that these projects include the acquisition of sports equipment, development of infrastructure, and implementation of educational initiatives to strengthen school football in Senegal. The 100,000 FCFA distributed to the players was solely intended to cover their travel expenses, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey back to their families.

This clarification aims to dispel misunderstandings about the use of funds and reaffirms the FSF‘s commitment to sustainable development in youth football through transparent and regulated financial management.
