The Côte d’Ivoire has once again declared its unwavering backing for the Kingdom of Morocco’s territorial integrity and full sovereignty across its entire domain, specifically encompassing the Sahara region. This affirmation was made public through a joint statement issued from Rabat.
The firm stance emerged following high-level discussions in Rabat between Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Ivorian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nialé Kaba, who was on an official working visit to the Kingdom. The Ivorian top diplomat reiterated what she termed “consistent support,” thereby confirming Abidjan’s steadfast alignment with Morocco’s position regarding the Sahara.

Furthermore, Côte d’Ivoire commended the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2797. This resolution acknowledges Morocco’s autonomy initiative as the most serious and credible foundation for achieving a lasting resolution to the regional dispute. The Ivorian delegation also highlighted the establishment of its Consulate General in Laâyoune in 2020, a clear testament to the robust bilateral ties between the two nations.
For his part, Minister Bourita conveyed Morocco’s profound appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s unwavering stance. He emphasized the deep-rooted strategic partnership that binds Rabat and Abidjan, a relationship built upon mutual trust and a commitment to enhanced South-South cooperation.
