In a significant diplomatic engagement, Lomé and Kinshasa have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties while addressing urgent security concerns in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) eastern provinces. The meeting, held in Pya during cultural festivities in the Kozah region, brought together Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé and Kinshasa’s Minister of Regional Integration, Floribert Anzuluni, who was on an official visit to Togo.

Following the meeting, Minister Anzuluni conveyed Kinshasa’s deep appreciation for President Gnassingbé’s unwavering commitment to resolving the crisis diplomatically. As the African Union’s designated mediator for the DRC and Great Lakes region, he has been actively engaging with key stakeholders to broker lasting peace.
“The Togolese head of state’s persistent diplomatic efforts have been instrumental in steering regional peace initiatives forward,” said Anzuluni.
