Recognition for CNTIG leadership at the Builders of the African Economy ceremony
In a ceremony held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Abidjan, Dr Edouard Fonh-Gbéi, the Director General of the National Committee for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information (CNTIG), was officially recognized during the Builders of the African Economy gala. This distinction highlights his significant contributions to the continent’s economic landscape through technological innovation and geographic data management.
Accepting the honor, Dr Fonh-Gbéi emphasized that the achievement belongs to his entire staff. “This recognition reflects the commitment of a dedicated team, a vision pursued with deep conviction, and daily hard work driven by passion,” he remarked. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers and partners who have supported the CNTIG mission throughout this journey.
Dr Fonh-Gbéi took the helm of the CNTIG in 2012 following a competitive international selection process. Under his leadership, the promotion of geoinformation technologies has become a vital catalyst for economic growth in Côte d’Ivoire.
The CNTIG has evolved into a cornerstone of territorial digitalization across the country. Looking ahead, the Director General noted that the award serves as motivation for further excellence. “I accept this prize with gratitude, viewing it as a call to move forward with even greater ambition, rigor, and impact. The most significant achievements are still to come,” he stated.
The Builders of the African Economy forum, established in 2006, serves as a premier platform for celebrating excellence and merit within Africa‘s business and entrepreneurial sectors, spotlighting leaders who drive the continent’s development.
