Gabon post savers verify accounts via new digital platform
The Director-General of Gabon Poste, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, has unveiled a new digital solution enabling frozen savings account holders to verify their names in the liquidator’s records without visiting a branch.
To check their status, savers can simply access the platform at https://www.ccp.laposte.ga from any computer or smartphone. The online portal went live on Monday and quickly faced high traffic, with nearly 10,000 visits logged within hours of launch.
« The application has been upgraded and will be fully operational starting this Wednesday, » Alfred Ikaka Bobe confirmed. Users are required to confirm their continued status as living individuals and may also specify their preferred payment location, whether inside or outside the country.
Those whose names appear in the liquidator’s records but have lost their passbooks must visit a Poste branch to request a replacement. The initiative follows the 2017 collapse of PostBank SA, a subsidiary of the national postal service, which left thousands of savers stranded when their funds were frozen.
After years of unfulfilled promises from the previous administration, the current transitional government pledged in February 2025 to settle the outstanding debts owed to these savers. Approximately 60,000 individuals are believed to be affected, with a total debt of 31.212 billion CFA francs to be repaid over three years in equal annual installments.
