ID4Africa 2026 in Abidjan: shaping the future of digital identity for Africa

A groundbreaking gathering of digital identity leaders is set to take place in Abidjan from May 12 to 15, 2026, as the city hosts the 7th annual ID4Africa General Assembly at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët.

The event, themed “Digital Identity: From Public Digital Infrastructure to Digital Public Ecosystems”, will bring together top decision-makers, technical experts, private sector innovators, and international institution representatives.

The official inauguration on May 12, 2026, was led by Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné. Over the four-day conference, discussions will focus on secure population identification systems and the expansion of accessible digital public services.

Key topics include data protection, inclusive digital ecosystem development, and the shift from purely technical infrastructure toward comprehensive, people-centered identity systems that integrate legal, institutional, and sector-specific dimensions.

Since its launch in 2014, ID4Africa has supported African nations in building robust and responsible digital identity frameworks to drive development, accelerate digital transformation, and support humanitarian efforts.

By hosting this year’s assembly, Abidjan reinforces its role as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation, emphasizing the critical importance of reliable digital identities in ensuring citizens can access essential public services efficiently.

This gathering marks another milestone in Africa’s journey toward secure, inclusive, and future-ready digital ecosystems.
