Kenya and Chad strengthen ties in Nairobi summit
The Kenyan President, William Ruto, has lauded the deepening ties between Kenya and Chad, emphasizing the pivotal role of Chadian leader Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno in advancing international security and the Africa Forward initiative.
Following a bilateral meeting at the State House in Nairobi, President Ruto described the diplomatic relations between the two nations as “anchored in shared values, mutual respect, and continental solidarity.” He underscored the shared commitment of both countries to champion common positions “that serve the interests of African peoples, drive the continent’s progress, and foster global cooperation.”
Highlighting Chad’s involvement in the UN-backed Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti, President Ruto praised the country’s contribution to restoring “peace, stability, and hope” in the Caribbean nation. This engagement, he noted, reflects Chad’s dedication to global peacekeeping efforts and multilateral security initiatives.
In a gesture of appreciation, President Ruto also commended Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno for his “vital role” in ensuring the success of the Africa Forward summit, held this week in Nairobi. The event brought together African and international partners to chart a new course for economic, political, and security collaboration on the continent.
