Khalifa Sall denounces Senegal government’s tactics at Taxawu Sénégal launch

The political party Taxawu Sénégal, led by Khalifa Sall, officially transitioned into a structured political party during its founding congress held this Sunday in Dakar at the Grand Théâtre.

The event drew massive support from militants who filled the venue with vibrant colors, banners, and chants, creating an atmosphere charged with political energy.

Political backing and strategic alliances

The congress witnessed the participation of key political figures, including:

  • Bamba Fall, Mayor of Médina
  • Alioune Ndoye, Mayor of Dakar-Plateau
  • Aïssata Tall Sall
  • Oumar Sarr, Coordinator of the Front pour la République (FDR)
  • Me El Hadji Diouf
  • Zahara Kane Thiame, among other political leaders

According to organizers, six political parties and multiple movements joined Taxawu Sénégal by signing its constitutional charter during the event.

Khalifa Sall’s fiery critique of governance

In his closing speech, Khalifa Sall hailed the congress as a “foundational act”, marking the official transformation of Taxawu Sénégal into a full-fledged political party.

He painted a grim picture of the country’s current state, declaring that Senegal is “in the 20th basement”—a metaphor reflecting the depth of challenges the nation faces.

He sharply criticized the ruling government, declaring: “They are playing Baara Yegoo… but we’ve seen through their tactics.” This statement was widely interpreted as a direct challenge to the administration’s governance methods.

Call for unity among opposition forces

Khalifa Sall urged opposition groups to unite in confidence and cohesion, emphasizing the need for a shared strategy to address political challenges.

He reflected on the movement’s journey—filled with struggles, victories, and political realignments—while praising the dedication of its members and allied forces.
