Lucas Chevalier: PSG makes a significant decision regarding his future
Initially earmarked as the successor to Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts for Paris Saint-Germain, Lucas Chevalier ultimately relinquished his starting position mid-season to Matvey Safonov. Nevertheless, the capital club has reportedly opted against parting ways with the French goalkeeper.

During the previous summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain maintained a discreet profile in the market but did execute one significant change. Gianluigi Donnarumma had departed the club following an excellent second half of the season, making way for Lucas Chevalier, who was acquired from LOSC for approximately €40M, excluding bonuses. The French shot-stopper was widely presented as Paris’s long-term starting goalkeeper. However, after a challenging start, he swiftly lost his place to Matvey Safonov.
PSG commits to retaining Lucas Chevalier
Indeed, the Russian international firmly established himself as PSG’s undisputed number one after displacing Lucas Chevalier, playing a pivotal role in the club’s strong form. This turn of events might suggest an uncertain future for the former Lille player at PSG. However, sources indicate that the capital club has decided to keep him this summer. A transfer for Lucas Chevalier is therefore not on the agenda, as he has evidently impressed the PSG staff with his commendable attitude and the positive signals he displayed during the latter half of the season.
A new young goalkeeper arrives!
Concurrently, PSG is also planning for the future in the goalkeeper department. According to reports, Alessandro Longoni is set to join the capital club. The 18-year-old Italian goalkeeper will arrive on a free transfer from AC Milan, effectively compensating for the departure of Renato Marin, who will spend a season on loan at CD Nacional, a team competing in the Portuguese first division. In essence, while Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier are expected to vie for the starting spot in PSG‘s goal next season, Alessandro Longoni and Renato Marin could potentially emerge as their successors in the years to come.
