Nantes and Toulouse match ends 0-0 as disciplinary panel confirms sanctions
Following crowd disturbances at the final Ligue 1 fixture, FC Nantes will play their first home match in Ligue 2 without supporters.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel’s disciplinary committee has officially ratified the 0-0 draw between FC Nantes and Toulouse FC on Wednesday, 27 May, confirming the match’s final score after the game was abandoned due to fan unrest at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
The committee also imposed additional sanctions on the Canaries, now relegated to Ligue 2, including a closed-door fixture and the closure of the Loire stand for two matches.
“After reviewing the investigation report, the committee has decided to permanently validate the result on the pitch at the time of definitive match abandonment (0-0),” stated the LFP in an official release. “Furthermore, the committee has handed down the following penalties: one closed-door match at the Stade de la Beaujoire, followed by the closure of the Loire stand for two additional fixtures.”
On 17 May, during the final matchday of the season, FC Nantes—already confirmed as relegated—faced Toulouse when supporters in the Loire stand launched flares and invaded the pitch. After temporary restoration of order by riot police, referee Stéphanie Frappart announced the match’s definitive abandonment “on prefectural order for safety reasons.”
As they prepare for their Ligue 2 campaign, the Canaries will begin their return to second-tier football without their usual home crowd, forced to play their first home game behind closed doors.
