Ndiaga Seck, a prominent political figure, was taken into custody Friday on suspicion of serious misconduct, becoming entangled in a broader judicial probe involving another suspect.
The case took a sharp political turn following comments by journalist Madiambal Diagne, who suggested a connection between Seck and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. This interpretation was immediately rejected by Deputy Cheikh Bara Ndiaye, who condemned what he described as a deliberate smear campaign aimed at damaging reputations.
Ndiaye went further, praising Sonko’s handling of the controversy, noting the Prime Minister’s insistence on allowing legal proceedings to unfold without interference. The deputy argued that political maneuvering was clouding the judicial process and called for a return to facts.
Currently being held in police custody, Ndiaga Seck is expected to appear before a judge in Linguère on Monday for the next phase of the investigation.
