During his inaugural address, Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo underscored the critical need for governmental action to prioritize the national interest, while notably referencing previous consultations with Ousmane Sonko. This political positioning suggests growing tensions within the executive branch, signaling a strong call for national unity in Sénégal.

Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lô, widely known as Al Aminou Lo, has officially assumed leadership of the Primature, outlining the core directives for his administration. This highly anticipated address followed the formation of a new executive team, sanctioned by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. The speech clearly articulated a political stance rooted in unwavering commitment to the « Diomaye Président » agenda and the comprehensive Vision Sénégal 2050.

In his remarks, the head of government emphasized that public policy must be driven by a focus on tangible results, institutional coherence, and the collective mobilization of all vital national forces. He introduced a 30-member cabinet, characterizing it as a « mission government » designed to strike a balance between political representation and technocratic expertise.

The Prime Minister also clarified that the consultations leading to the formation of this governmental team involved all relevant stakeholders, including Ousmane Sonko, the leader of the Pastef party. This detail emerges amid a politically charged atmosphere marked by disagreements over the composition of the new executive and Pastef’s notable official absence from the government.

Without explicitly naming his predecessor, several segments of Al Aminou Lo’s speech were widely interpreted as pointed messages. By elevating the general interest above partisan considerations, he essentially conveyed that « the Homeland and the Republic must always stand above any partisan concern. » Many political observers perceived this phrasing as a direct response to the political strains surrounding the recent governmental transition.

Continuing this theme, the Prime Minister reiterated the vision championed by Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye, which prioritizes the urgent realization of a « sovereign, just, and prosperous » Sénégal. He stressed the imperative to harness all available talents, including those within the diaspora, to accelerate the implementation of key public policies.

Regarding organizational structure, Al Aminou Lo announced several administrative adjustments within the governmental apparatus. Certain responsibilities have been realigned between ministries to enhance the coherence of public action. Notably, the Ministry of Energy, Oil, and Mines underwent restructuring, with specific mining-related functions being transferred to a newly established department dedicated to Geology.

The head of government further indicated that the role of the government spokesperson has been elevated to a full ministerial rank, which he stated exemplifies the administration’s commitment to strengthening the consistency and clarity of institutional communication.

Finally, the Prime Minister unveiled a new methodological approach to governmental action, founded on principles of rigor, coordination, and efficacy. This renewed dynamic, he affirmed, is intended to transform national ambitions into concrete outcomes that directly benefit the populace.
