Following his recent inauguration as Bénin’s leader, Romuald Wadagni has officially announced the formation of his inaugural government. This new cabinet comprises 22 ministers and 3 delegated ministers, notably characterized by a strategic mix of experienced officials from the prior administration and the introduction of fresh, dynamic talents.

The composition of this government clearly reflects the new Head of State’s commitment to advancing the significant reforms initiated during the tenure of Patrice Talon. Simultaneously, it signals his intent to steer the nation with his distinct policy direction, particularly emphasizing digital transformation, innovation, and enhanced public governance.

Among the pivotal appointments, Yvon Détchénou assumes the crucial portfolio for Justice and Legislation. Aristide Médenou steps into leadership at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. For National Defense, Gildas Agonkan has been designated minister, while Djibril Mama Cissé Moussa is entrusted with the vital responsibilities of Interior and Public Security.

Bénin’s diplomatic efforts will now be spearheaded by Corinne Amori Brunet, appointed as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. Olushegun Adjadi Bakari retains his strategic position within the Ministry of Tourism, Foreign Trade, and Industry, a role vital for boosting the nation’s economic appeal.

The newly formed executive also places significant emphasis on social sectors. Benjamin Hounkpatin maintains his role in Health, Véronique Tognifodé takes charge of Family and Social Action, and Sedami Medegan Fagla is appointed to lead Higher Education and Scientific Research.

A standout innovation within this government team is the establishment of a dedicated portfolio for Digital Transformation and Innovation, a responsibility now entrusted to Mahouna Aklogan. In the critical sectors of infrastructure and living environment, Georges Alley has been appointed Minister of Transport and Living Environment. Concurrently, Edouard Dahomey assumes leadership of the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Mines.

The government further includes three delegated ministers, alongside the significant appointment of Wilson Gakpéto to the strategic position of Secretary General of the Government.
