Algeria and Chad boost infrastructure cooperation with new agreement
In a significant move to bolster bilateral ties, Algeria and Chad formalized an agreement this Thursday in N’Djamena. This accord is designed to streamline the execution of various joint cooperation initiatives in public works and infrastructure, specifically aiming to fast-track the implementation of previously established agreements from April.
The pivotal document received official signatures from Abdelkader Djellaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Amir Idriss Kourda, the Chadian Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance. This signing took place during a crucial coordination meeting held in N’Djamena, marking the second day of a working visit by an Algerian delegation to Chad.
High-ranking officials from both nations attended the gathering. The Algerian contingent included the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior representatives from the Cosider group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP). On the Chadian side, the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure, alongside several key senior executives, participated in the deliberations.
During the discussions, the Chadian Minister highlighted the “rapid dynamic” observed in the execution of bilateral agreements. He commended the tangible progress achieved since the initial accords were inked on April 22 in Algiers, specifically pointing to reciprocal technical visits and the commencement of feasibility studies for the ambitious Trans-Saharan Road project, which is set to traverse Chadian territory.
