Algeria and Chad strengthen infrastructure cooperation with new agreement

In a significant move to bolster regional development, Algeria and Chad formalized an agreement this Thursday in N’Djamena, establishing a framework to streamline the execution of collaborative projects across public works and infrastructure sectors.

This latest accord is designed to deepen the strategic partnership between Algeria and Chad, propelling forward the implementation of previous agreements initially established in April. Officials emphasized the commitment to expedite these crucial initiatives.

Initiating studies for the Trans-Saharan Road project’s Chadian segment

The signing ceremony took place on the second day of the Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad, held during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena. Key signatories included Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and his Chadian counterpart, Amir Idriss Kourda, Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance. High-ranking officials present at the gathering included the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, along with leaders from the Cosider Group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).

Chadian representation at the meeting also included the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several senior executives. During the discussions, the Chadian minister underscored the remarkable speed and momentum driving the bilateral agreements’ execution. He specifically lauded the tangible progress achieved since the initial accords were inked on April 22 in Algiers, highlighting successful mutual technical visits and the crucial commencement of feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan Road project within Chadian territory.
