The Hillacondji border crossing is now equipped with the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS), an advanced platform designed to enhance security and streamline the flow of travelers.

Substantial investment for national sovereignty

The implementation of this sophisticated infrastructure is a core component of the American Transborder Security Program. With a total investment of 2.3 million dollars, this funding underscores the robust bilateral cooperation between Cotonou and Washington.

The MIDAS system empowers Béninese authorities to gather, process, and analyze biographical and biometric data from individuals crossing the border in real-time. This digital transformation replaces traditional manual procedures, leading to greater accuracy in identification and significantly reducing wait times at checkpoints.

The three pillars of the MIDAS initiative

The deployment of this system is founded on precise operational objectives:
