In Kétou, motorcycle taxi riders will soon be required to wear uniforms while working. The local government is launching a registration drive ahead of the reform, which it says will boost safety, improve driver identification, and bring better order to urban transport.

The decision covers all six districts of Kétou and aims to regulate the motorcycle taxi business more tightly. The town hall notes that the uniform requirement will make riders easier to spot, enhance passenger safety, and improve overall transport management.

Implementation begins with a registration campaign from July 6 to July 20, 2026, held at the administrative secretariats of each district. Riders must bring a valid ID to be registered. This step is mandatory to receive the official uniform.

After the enrollment period, only registered riders wearing the uniform will be allowed to carry passengers. The municipal authorities warn that those who fail to comply will face penalties under existing laws.

The commune also calls on passengers to support the reform by choosing officially identified drivers. District chiefs, motorcycle taxi associations, and security services are tasked with enforcing the new rule.
