Boko Haram regains strength in Lake Chad region despite military efforts

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno made a firm pledge following a recent assault by a Boko Haram faction in the Lake Chad area: «We will continue this fight with renewed determination until this threat is completely eliminated.» His statement came in response to an attack that struck a military base near Barka Tolorom, located on the Chadian side of Lake Tchad, resulting in 24 soldier casualties.
