Bujumbura hosts crucial talks on drc’s political crisis
Bujumbura has become the focal point this weekend for a series of high-level discussions aimed at addressing the complex political crisis unfolding in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These crucial consultations were initiated by Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, who currently holds the chairmanship of the African Union.
Among the prominent attendees are key members of the C64 opposition coalition’s presidium, including Martin Fayulu, Delly Sesanga, Dieudonné Bolengetenge, Jean Marc Kabun, and Francklin Tshiamala. They have arrived in the Burundian capital and are scheduled for meetings with President Ndayishimiye.
Religious leaders are also playing an integral role in these vital exchanges. Archbishop Ejiba Yamapia, who presides over the Platform of Religious Confessions and Revival Churches in the DRC, is present. Delegations representing both the Catholic Church and the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) have also made the journey to participate.
In essence, these gatherings in Bujumbura bring together a broad spectrum of Congolese society – encompassing both the political opposition and the nation’s leading religious institutions – to collectively seek solutions for the prevailing political instability in the DRC.
