A new political movement, Alternative Crédible (ACR), aiming to present a fresh political offering, was introduced to the media by its leaders on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam.

National Executive Secretary Oxyde Tano, serving as the movement’s chief spokesperson, elucidated the core principles, aspirations, and overarching vision of ACR. He positioned the organization as a vital response to the prevailing socio-economic and democratic hurdles facing Côte d’Ivoire.

Tano explained that this initiative first took shape on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young individuals from various backgrounds, all united in their resolve to introduce an innovative approach to politics within Côte d’Ivoire.

According to Tano, the establishment of ACR is rooted in a widely recognized reality: despite its substantial human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous systemic issues. These include the escalating cost of living, persistent youth unemployment, pronounced social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and deep-seated social fragmentation.

Identifying as a left-leaning political entity, ACR emphatically states its commitment to placing human well-being at the heart of its endeavors. Its overarching vision is to forge a Côte d’Ivoire that is «just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, unified, and steadfast in upholding the rule of law».

Operating under the resonant slogan, «Demain se décide aujourd’hui» (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR aims to champion a governance model founded on transparency, open dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the collective good. Ultimately, the movement aspires to rally the nation’s dynamic forces around a credible political blueprint, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a truly equitable society.

ACR officials detailed the primary pillars of their political agenda. These encompass boosting youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing agricultural practices, guaranteeing the security of citizens and their assets, advancing women’s rights, combating the rising cost of living, fostering robust economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national cohesion.

Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s openness to constructive dialogue with all political and social entities that share its core tenets of peace, democracy, social justice, and comprehensive development. He further assured that particular emphasis would be placed on addressing the concerns and aspirations of young people, women, laborers, entrepreneurs, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.

Furthermore, the National Executive Secretary announced the movement’s official public launch, scheduled for August in Cocody. During this significant event, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, is set to formally unveil the movement’s political vision and the key directions of its comprehensive program.

Leading up to this inaugural ceremony, a series of preparatory activities are planned across the country. These include widespread awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and national campaigns aimed at mobilization and encouraging new memberships.

«The moment has arrived to turn a new page in our nation’s history,» concluded Oxyde Tano, reiterating ACR’s profound ambition to contribute significantly to the creation of a Côte d’Ivoire that is «more just, more resilient, and ultimately more prosperous.»
