The Cameroonian political leader Banda Kani has launched a fierce attack against commentator Elimbi Lobe, branding him as a provincial figure with no national vision.
In a televised interview on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the NMP National President expressed outrage over Elimbi Lobe’s remarks on Info Tv, where he referred to nationalist Ernest Ouandié as a “bandit.”
“By calling Ouandié a bandit, Elimbi Lobe has discredited himself,” Banda Kani declared. He went on to dismiss Elimbi Lobe as a political lightweight, arguing that his ambitions extend no further than “a ward politician chasing a parliamentary seat.”
Has he always spoken this way?
Banda Kani highlighted Elimbi Lobe’s political inconsistency, contrasting his current rhetoric with past statements made during his time in the Social Democratic Front (SDF). “He’s running a purely electoral strategy,” the NMP leader argued. “Look at his 2011 SDF days—he praised national integration and even claimed his best friend was a Bamileke, to the point of considering naming his son after him.”
“By 2015, he was condemning tribalism. Would the SDF have tolerated such divisive language? Of course not. He’s a small-time politician who thinks a parliamentary seat will catapult him to political stardom.” Banda Kani concluded.
