Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco strengthen ties on royal initiatives
During a meeting in Rabat, Côte d’Ivoire’s Foreign Minister Kacou Adom reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s royal-led initiatives aimed at boosting Africa’s development.
«Côte d’Ivoire stands firmly behind these initiatives and will work alongside Morocco to ensure their success in alignment with His Majesty’s vision», declared the Ivorian diplomat following discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
The bilateral cooperation between the two nations extends beyond political alignment. Kacou Adom also highlighted the dynamic role of Moroccan private enterprises in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth, emphasizing their contributions to nation-building.
Both ministers agreed to reconvene soon to assess the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to inject further dynamism into their joint ventures and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Nasser Bourita reciprocated the Ivorian stance, expressing Morocco’s deep appreciation for Abidjan’s consistent backing on the Sahrawi issue. «Côte d’Ivoire has consistently been a steadfast ally of Morocco on this vital national cause», he noted.
He further added, «This unwavering position has been warmly welcomed by His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all stakeholders in the Kingdom».
«Your nation is not just a strong bilateral partner for Morocco but a leading reference in Africa», Bourita remarked, underscoring the strategic importance of Côte d’Ivoire in the Kingdom’s regional engagements.
He also underscored Abidjan’s pivotal role in advancing royal initiatives, including the ambitious Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, which His Majesty the King has prioritized. «This project is nearing critical milestones, particularly after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) endorsed the intergovernmental agreement for its implementation», he explained.
This high-level dialogue between Rabat and Abidjan underscores the depth of their political, economic, and regional partnership. From steadfast support on the Sahara question to collaborative economic ventures and alignment with Morocco’s continental projects, Côte d’Ivoire remains a key ally for the Kingdom in Africa.
