Côte d’Ivoire: understanding the dissolution of the electoral commission
For an extended period, the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) stood as a central point of political friction, consistently creating obstacles in the relationship between the governing body and opposition factions. However, the CEI has now been officially dissolved. This significant development was confirmed by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly on May 6. Coulibaly declared that this move marks the dawn of “a new era,” emphasizing that the primary objective is to “durably guarantee the organization of peaceful elections” within the nation.
