Digital transformation in Côte d’Ivoire: training 75 education inspectors
As part of the second stage of the Digital Skills Development for Supervisory and Teaching Personnel (DCNPEE) initiative, 75 pedagogical inspectors from 25 regional education offices across Côte d’Ivoire gathered in Yamoussoukro. This workshop, held from May 4 to 6, 2026, focused on elevating digital proficiency within the national school system.
The three-day seminar in Yamoussoukro was a collaborative effort between UNESCO and the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Education (MENAET), facilitated by the Direction of Technologies and Information Systems (DTSI). This training is a key component of the DCNPEE project’s second phase, aiming to equip educational leaders with the tools necessary for a modern learning environment.
Building on the success of the first phase—which saw the certification of 43 inspectors—this new session ensures a more balanced and widespread digital integration across the country. This effort aligns perfectly with the National Digitalization Strategy for Education (SNDECI 2024-2028), a cornerstone of Sahel current affairs regarding institutional modernization.
The participants, specifically those overseeing Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physics-Chemistry, explored various digital methodologies. The curriculum focused on creating engaging educational content, developing interactive presentations, and effectively incorporating artificial intelligence into daily supervisory tasks. By mastering these technologies, the inspectors aim to boost instructional quality and foster more dynamic student engagement.
Attendees expressed high satisfaction with the modules, noting their relevance to the evolving needs of the Ivorian school system. Both UNESCO and the DTSI emphasized that these inspectors are vital catalysts for change, expected to mentor teachers in their respective regions. This on the ground Sahel perspective highlights the importance of local leadership in technological adoption.
Supported by GIZ funding, this milestone in the DCNPEE 2 project paves the way for future initiatives, including specialized training for IT managers. The ultimate vision remains the creation of a high-performing, inclusive, and technologically advanced educational framework in Côte d’Ivoire, a topic frequently covered in Sahel news English reports.
