During an official working visit to Dakar, the Gabonese Minister of State for Transport, Merchant Marine, and Logistics, Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, held strategic talks with his Senegalese counterpart, Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye. Their discussions focused on the critical challenges of modernising infrastructure and consolidating bilateral partnerships. This meeting highlights a growing momentum of expertise transfer between Libreville and Dakar.

Gabon aims to draw inspiration from the Senegalese model to structure its own transport ecosystems. The Gabonese Minister of State explained that his team engaged in comprehensive exchanges regarding various land and air transport issues. Senegal, which has demonstrated strong capabilities in managing the Blaise Diagne International Airport alongside expanding its road and railway networks, serves as an exemplary reference point for Gabonese authorities.

The two officials also addressed the alignment of regulatory and safety frameworks, which are essential for meeting international standards. This alignment aims to secure seamless operations while fostering shared expertise in technical management, airport security, and professional training for transport sector personnel.

Accelerating infrastructure upgrades in Gabon

By leveraging Senegal’s successful initiatives, Gabon intends to accelerate the rehabilitation of its own facilities. This strategy aims to optimise national traffic management and restructure public transport systems to revitalise a sector in clear need of modernisation. Furthermore, this collaborative learning process includes deep reflections on developing logistics infrastructure and multimodal connectivity. The goal is to establish a seamless integration between land routes and air links, effectively unlocking remote regions and facilitating the movement of people and cargo. In this endeavour, Libreville looks directly to Dakar as a benchmark.
