Journalist Sié Frédéric Kambou wins health reporting award at 29th Galian ceremony in Ouagadougou
The 29th Galian Awards once again celebrated excellence in journalism within Burkina Faso on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Ouagadougou. Among the distinguished winners was Sié Frédéric Kambou, who took home the Special Prize from the Ministry of Health in the Online Press category.
The award recognizes his detailed report, “Au Burkina Faso, la santé sort de l’ombre du privilège !”, which was published on December 26, 2025. This on the ground Burkina reporting highlighted significant progress in the health sector, including the reduction of costs for various medical tests and the removal of the mandatory deposit for dialysis in public hospitals.

Sié Frédéric Kambou was visibly moved while receiving his trophy, dedicating the achievement to his colleagues at Burkina 24. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and editorial support in reaching this milestone.
