Rabat — The Kingdom of Morocco has officially endorsed the agreement governing its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) deployed in Gaza. This decision follows the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as well as Chairman of the Al Qods Committee.
The signing ceremony took place in Rabat, led by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Deputy Minister for National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi. The event was attended by top military officials from the FAR, alongside a delegation headed by Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for Gaza.
Humanitarian and security-driven commitment
According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this agreement fulfills Morocco’s pledge as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, in line with the King’s vision articulated during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington.
The Moroccan government emphasized that this participation underscores the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to peace, international cooperation, and solidarity. It also highlighted the FAR’s extensive experience in UN-led peacekeeping operations and Morocco’s long-standing commitment to regional and global stability.
The Gaza Peace Council representatives commended Morocco’s involvement, noting key contributions such as:
- The deployment of senior FAR officers within the ISF’s joint command structure
- The inclusion of personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN)
- The establishment of a field military hospital
The signed accord establishes the legal and operational framework for Morocco’s involvement, reflecting a shared determination to restore peace and security in Gaza through humanitarian and security initiatives.
