Nasser Bourita forges key alliances with Bahrain and Jordan in Amman
In Amman, a series of high-level diplomatic engagements took place as Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, met with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan. These pivotal discussions, occurring alongside the League of Arab States summit, were aimed at reinforcing bilateral alliances and addressing the pressing security challenges impacting the region.
These meetings served to consolidate bilateral alliances and confront security challenges currently affecting the area.
Alliance and stability alongside Bahrain
During his meeting with Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the conversation centered on coordinating initiatives to secure peace and stability throughout the Arab world. The two top diplomats examined the enduring historical relationship between Rabat and Manama, identifying new avenues for cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors. Supporting this work session were Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif; the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali; and the ministry’s Director of Maghreb Affairs, Khalid Bencheikh.
Upcoming joint commission with Jordan
In a separate discussion, Mr. Bourita met with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and head of diplomacy, Ayman Safadi. Their dialogue focused primarily on preparations for the sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian High Joint Commission, which is slated to convene before the end of the year. Both ministers underscored the importance of developing an ambitious agenda for the commission to elevate the bilateral partnership to a new strategic plane. A common theme in the talks with both nations was the shared recognition of an urgent need to bolster political consultation frameworks to navigate the current complex geopolitical landscape.
Activity within the Arab League
These bilateral engagements followed Mr. Bourita’s participation in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, further cementing Morocco’s proactive role in the region’s multilateral dialogue.
