Senegal cracks down on unnatural acts: Sonko vows no one is spared

During a heated session at the National Assembly addressing concerns over acts against nature, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko delivered a resolute message: the newly reinforced legislation will be enforced without exception. Speaking during a Question Time session this Friday, he emphasized that the law leaves no room for leniency, targeting all offenders—regardless of status or influence.

In a bold declaration, Sonko made it clear that the crackdown would not spare even the most powerful figures. “Even the big fish won’t be spared,” he warned, signaling an uncompromising stance against such acts. His objective, he stated, is the complete eradication of this phenomenon in Senegal.

Taking a firm sovereign approach, Sonko also addressed criticisms from abroad regarding the legislation. He asserted that Senegal does not need lessons from any Western nation, reaffirming the country’s right to shape its laws in accordance with its values and priorities. This stance aligns with his long-standing commitment to national sovereignty since assuming office.
