Tchad advances freight digitalization with BNFT’s latest training
The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) completed a landmark training in N’Djamena to modernize land freight services through digital transformation.
N’Djamena, Tchad — The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has successfully wrapped up a three-day intensive training program in N’Djamena aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of land freight services across Tchad. Held at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the workshop brought together freight agents and controllers from various regions, including N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi, to familiarize them with cutting-edge digital tools designed to streamline transport operations.
Modernizing land freight through digital tools
During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, chair of the steering committee, praised participants’ dedication throughout the training. He highlighted that the workshop covered essential modules on digital technologies and electronic freight management, including digital interface navigation, cargo declarations, carrier management, agency configuration, and system setup. These digital solutions are expected to significantly enhance administrative efficiency and operational monitoring across the sector.
A strategic step toward national digital transformation
According to BNFT leadership, this initiative aligns with Tchad’s broader public service modernization agenda, particularly in digitizing essential transport documents. The transition from paper-based to digital systems for mandatory documents like the Lettre de Voiture Obligatoire (LVO) and Taxe à l’Essieu (TAE) marks a critical leap toward more transparent and efficient freight regulation. Technical partners from TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO Consulting provided hands-on expertise and support throughout the training, earning recognition for their contributions.
e-BNFT platform: a game-changer for freight management
Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the steering committee, emphasized that this training was specifically designed to equip agents, controllers, and emissaries with the skills to use and monitor the new e-BNFT digital platform. He described the initiative as a decisive break from traditional paper-based processes, enabling instant document issuance and verification for critical freight papers such as LVO and TAE. The platform also facilitates seamless, contactless processing of cargo documents, accessible via computers or mobile devices.
The Director-General underscored the platform’s role in bolstering state revenue security and generating reliable statistical data to strengthen economic policy decisions. He noted that this digital shift reflects the vision of modernization championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, aiming to revamp public administration and land freight services nationwide.
Building capacity and driving adoption
As the workshop concluded, Erda urged participants to integrate the new digital tools into daily operations, mastering the platform to become ambassadors of this transformation within their teams. The closing ceremony ended on a note of optimism, with a renewed call to sustain momentum and tackle the challenges of digitalization in both public administration and land freight services.
