Tchad and Central African Republic bolster border security with joint force operations
Chadian and Central African military leaders unite to strengthen border safety
Military authorities from Chad and the Central African Republic are intensifying collaborative efforts to enhance security along their shared border. A high-level working session, led by General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, commander of the Tchad-CAR joint force, took place recently to assess recent joint operations in volatile border regions.
The meeting brought together key defense officials from both nations who are actively involved in securing the porous frontier. Discussions centered on evaluating the outcomes of the Al-Hamamia 1 and Al-Hamamia 2 operations, alongside emerging security concerns in specific border communities. Participants also explored innovative approaches to bolster military presence in high-risk areas plagued by cross-border criminal activity.
New mission ‘Sentinelle’ gains approval to curb transnational threats
During the gathering, General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor endorsed a strategic plan for a new operation dubbed Sentinelle, proposed by the G5 Sahel cell. This initiative will deploy additional military units equipped with fixed and mobile surveillance posts, aiming to:
- Heighten monitoring of suspicious movements across the border;
- Accelerate response times for joint security forces;
- Strengthen inter-country security coordination.
The commander emphasized that Sentinelle is designed to safeguard border communities more effectively and tackle rising security challenges in this critical region.
The joint force’s ongoing work underscores the growing importance of regional collaboration in combating transnational threats along the Chad-CAR frontier.
