Top mining leaders honored for strategic solutions in DRC

Government honors top mining analysts for transformative proposals

Buanya Prize Ceremony at Pullman Grand Hôtel, Kinshasa

Kinshasa, June 24, 2026 — The Ministry of Mines celebrated excellence today by honoring top analysts from the National School of Administration (ENA) for their groundbreaking proposals addressing the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most pressing mining challenges.

The Buanya Prize ceremony, held at the Pullman Grand Hôtel de Kinshasa, recognized the winning teams of a rigorous competition designed to harness the strategic thinking of ENA graduates. In attendance were senior mining officials, jury members, participating analysts, and distinguished guests.

Over several intense weeks, 48 analysts—divided into six teams—conducted in-depth research on critical mining themes: governance, transparency, fraud prevention, artisanal mining regulation, geological exploration, equitable revenue distribution, and innovative project development.

Louis Watum Kabamba, Minister of Mines, emphasized the DRC’s pivotal role in the global energy transition. “Our mineral wealth must drive development—creating jobs, modern infrastructure, and quality social services,” he stated. He urged laureates to champion meritocracy, innovation, transparency, and accountability in reshaping the mining sector.

The initiative aligns with President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo‘s vision, implemented under Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, which prioritizes human capital and good governance.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo, marking the start of a new chapter where young administrative talent will play a central role in transforming the DRC’s mining future.
