Ziguinchor spiritual leader urges dialogue between president faye and prime minister sonko

Speaking out on the current state of affairs, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara highlighted the challenging period Senegal is navigating, advocating for a national embrace of peace and resilience.

“We are witnessing a leadership crisis at the very top of the state. Our officials must be given the opportunity to collaborate and find common ground,” he asserted.

The spiritual leader underscored the critical need for both key executive figures to adopt a steadfast and resilient approach to safeguard the nation’s stability.

“The President of the Republic must exhibit resilience. The Prime Minister, too, must be resilient. They need to embody the principles of International Peace Day to guide Senegal towards its most prosperous path,” he further emphasized in his remarks.

According to Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara, the prevailing atmosphere has ignited significant apprehension among the Senegalese populace.

“What we are experiencing and what we are hearing in the news is deeply unsettling. The people of Senegal are afraid. We ardently hope our country avoids such high-level governmental strife,” he declared, reflecting on the current affairs.

He concluded with a direct appeal to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, urging them to prioritize dialogue and de-escalation for the ultimate benefit of the entire nation, a sentiment echoed by many on the ground in Sahel regions.
