Washington and Cotonou deepen security cooperation
The United States and Bénin have reaffirmed their strategic alliance during a high-level meeting at the Pentagon, focusing on military collaboration and regional stability in the face of transnational threats.
The United States and Bénin are reinforcing their strategic defense partnership. General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently held discussions at the Pentagon with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.
At the core of their dialogue were joint security initiatives and the military assistance Washington provides, notably through the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).
Both high-ranking officials emphasized the pivotal role of a stable, secure, and democratic Bénin in ensuring overall regional peace. They committed to intensifying their military cooperation and to collaborating with regional partners to effectively counter transnational threats, thereby guaranteeing long-term stability across the region.
