Benin government extends civil engineers registration deadline

Civil engineers in Benin have been granted an additional 30-day window to complete their registration with the National Order of Civil Engineers of Benin. The decision, announced by the Ministry of Habitat and Transport, extends a previously set deadline to ensure broader participation from eligible professionals across the country and abroad.

Who qualifies and how to register

Eligible individuals include Beninese civil engineers residing both locally and overseas. To qualify, professionals must hold a recognized engineering degree—such as a diplôme d’ingénieur de conception, a professional master’s degree accredited by the State and CAMES, or an equivalent qualification. The registration process applies to multiple specializations, including:

• Building and public works
• Geotechnics and transport infrastructure
• Hydraulic and energy infrastructure
• Sanitation and environmental engineering
• Electronics, computer science, and telecommunications

This extension is based on Article 65 of Decree No. 2021-300 dated June 9, 2021, which governs the organization of the civil engineering profession in Benin.
