Gabon Economic Forum: fostering public-private dialogue for national growth
“My aspiration is for the FEG to be recognized not just for advocating on behalf of businesses, but crucially, for ensuring their prosperity.”
This powerful vision was articulated by Alain Claude Kouakoua, President of the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) held at the Palais des Congrès on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
This pivotal gathering serves as a vital platform, bringing together key decision-makers and international partners with the explicit aim of addressing Gabon’s pressing economic challenges.
As a pragmatic leader, the FEG President underscored that no nation has achieved significant development without a foundation of robust enterprises. He emphasized that businesses are not peripheral players but rather the fundamental engine driving economic progress.
Echoing this sentiment, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, the Vice-President of the Republic, highlighted the State’s commitment and support for the private sector. He affirmed, “The State will fulfill its responsibilities to ensure that the ongoing cleanup of public finances facilitates the timely settlement of obligations to private companies.”
This engaging discourse revealed a profound national ambition: to construct a diversified economy, one less reliant on raw materials and increasingly oriented towards industrialization.
Consequently, this Gabon Economic Forum symbolizes a robust dialogue, essential for effectively navigating and achieving Gabon’s critical economic objectives.
