Gabon urged to upgrade SOGARA refinery to cut fuel imports
As a leading oil producer in Central Africa, Gabon continues to grapple with a paradox: despite its significant crude output, it remains heavily reliant on imported refined petroleum products. Recognizing this vulnerability, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) is urging authorities in Libreville to prioritize the modernization of the Gabonese Refining Company (SOGARA), a move that could ease fiscal strain and protect the region’s foreign exchange reserves.
