Morocco and kuwait discuss boosting air links in Rabat

On Tuesday in Rabat, Abdessamad Kayouh, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, held discussions with Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Their pivotal meeting focused on strengthening air navigation coordination and overall aviation cooperation between Morocco and Kuwait.

This significant encounter took place on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, an event hosted by Morocco. During their talks, both delegations thoroughly examined strategies aimed at consolidating air safety and security, while also exploring various avenues to further develop bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.

Minister Kayouh emphasized the excellent and long-standing historical relations between the two nations. He confirmed that a key topic of discussion was the reactivation of the direct air route connecting Kuwait City and Casablanca. Royal Air Maroc, he assured, is fully committed to relaunching this essential service as swiftly as possible, following the integration of its new generation of long-haul aircraft into its fleet.

Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah further elaborated that the two parties also addressed the prospective increase in air traffic between Kuwait and Morocco. This anticipated rise in flights is a strategic preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will proudly co-host alongside Spain and Portugal. The objective is to effectively accommodate the projected surge in tourist numbers, benefiting both Morocco and the wider Gulf region.

The ACAO session concluded with the election of members for the Organization’s principal bodies for the 2026-2028 term. These bodies include the General Assembly, the Executive Council, and various technical committees. Additionally, Khalid Cherkaoui was officially appointed as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
