Morocco and Iraq deepen security cooperation in Rabat meeting
Strengthening bilateral ties in counterterrorism and intelligence exchange takes center stage in high-level discussions
The Director-General of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance Directorate, Abdellatif Hammouchi, held a strategic meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the DGSN headquarters in Rabat with Iraq’s Ambassador to Morocco, Hayder Shiya Albarrak.
During the discussions, both officials explored avenues to bolster bilateral cooperation across key security domains, including public safety, intelligence sharing, technical assistance, and police training programs. A joint statement from the DGSN-DGST highlighted the importance of exchanging best practices and expertise to consolidate security partnerships.
The talks also provided a platform to assess the existing level of security collaboration and address shared regional challenges, with a particular focus on the persistent threats posed by international terrorism.
