Morocco lodge complaint over flag desecration in France
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in France has taken legal action following disturbing incidents that unfolded in Aubervilliers after the Morocco-Canada World Cup 2026 match. On July 6, the Embassy formally filed a complaint with French authorities over the public desecration of the Moroccan flag and verbal assaults directed at Moroccan supporters.
A strongly worded statement released the same day condemned the acts as serious and disgraceful, emphasizing that these were not isolated events but deliberate provocations captured in verified footage and testimonies.
The Embassy described the actions—where the flag was torn, burned, and trampled—as part of a coordinated campaign involving individuals shouting slogans linked to Algeria. Such behavior, it stressed, violates both public order and mutual respect between nations.
