Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has appointed economist Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô as the new Prime Minister, following the dismissal of Ousmane Sonko. The decree was announced on national television.
Mr. Lô previously served as Secretary-General in the first government formed under President Faye, who has been in office since April 2024. He later took on the role of Minister.
This appointment comes just four days after Ousmane Sonko was removed from his position, amid escalating tensions between the two executive leaders that have persisted for months.
