Abidjan, July 13, 2026 – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, who previously contested the October 2025 presidential election, along with his core political strategists, has initiated the formal process to establish a new political party. This significant step follows a plenary assembly convened on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Abidjan.

During the gathering, which brought together both supporters and key members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign committee, participants overwhelmingly endorsed a resolution to create a fresh political entity.

This pivotal decision emerged from the recommendations of a dedicated reflection commission. The commission, tasked with evaluating the organizational future of the movement, presented its findings to the assembly, advocating for the formation of a political party to provide structure and ensure the long-term viability of the initiatives spearheaded by the former presidential hopeful.

Consequently, the assembly entrusted Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello with the mandate to guide the formation of this new political force and to orchestrate the forthcoming « Congrès des Pionniers » (Pioneers’ Congress), which is envisioned as the foundational event for the nascent party.

This undertaking marks a significant evolution, transforming the former candidate’s campaign apparatus into a fully-fledged political organization. The emerging party intends to position itself as a dynamic force for policy proposals, national unity, and political alternation. Its core tenets will encompass the values of democracy, social justice, sound governance, solidarity, merit, and the unwavering principle of national sovereignty.

Following the proceedings, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their trust and proceeded to outline the broad vision for the political project. He extended an earnest invitation to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to join this endeavor, aiming to forge a Côte d’Ivoire that is « more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign ».

« Preparatory work for the Pioneers’ Congress will commence immediately, with the date for this crucial assembly to be announced in due course, » it was confirmed.

Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, formerly a vice-president of the Parti des peuples africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI) before his expulsion, had notably run in the presidential election held in October 2025.
