Claudy Siar, the veteran host of Couleurs Tropicales, has been appointed Special Advisor to the President of Benin for Culture, Media, and National Visibility.
A career milestone for the pan-African advocate, Siar’s new role was confirmed on June 3, 2026, by President Romuald Wadagni. The appointment reflects Benin’s commitment to elevating its cultural and media presence on the continental stage.
Siar’s journey to this position follows his departure from Radio France Internationale (RFI) in March 2026, which marked the end of his iconic show Couleurs Tropicales—a program he had helmed since 1995. The split came amid programmatic shifts and political tensions, with Siar citing his ideological stance, pan-African activism, and criticism of Western policies as key factors in his exit. RFI, for its part, attributed the decision to a strategic realignment toward new musical programming.
With over three decades at RFI, Siar has now transitioned to a new venture with NewWorld TV, where he is developing two channels—NewWorld Mix and NewWorld Muzik—as part of his ongoing commitment to African creative expression.
